The camisa bears the logomarca (logo) of the CBB from that era, along with ♣ a sticker with the official logo of the organization and the message "Campeãs Mundiais 1994" (1994 World Champions).
The launch ♣ is part of a series of initiatives by the CBB to remember and honor historic milestones in Brazilian basketball, following ♣ the resounding success of the homenagem (tribute) held in 2024 to honor the 1963 world champion team. The homage to ♣ the 1994 team is particularly significant because it marks 30 years since their victory, which paved the way for the ♣ growth of women's basketball in Brazil.
The 1994 Women's World Basketball Championship was a milestone moment for Brazilian sports. The ♣ road to victory was challenging, with Brazil coming fourth in a group of five teams, with two wins and three ♣ losses. They stunned medal favorites USA in the semifinals with a score of 1107-101, and went on to beat China ♣ 96-87 in the final, thanks to impressive performances by Hortência (27 points), Janeth (20) and Paula (17). Hortência was the ♣ overall top scorer of the tournament, with a 27,6 points-per-game average. Janeth came in third with 23,3 points and Paula ♣ fifth with 19,8 points. The lineup coached by Miguel Angelo da Luz included Adriana, Alessandra, Cintia, Dalila, Hortência, Janeth, Leila, ♣ Paula, Roseli, Ruth, and Simone.
CBB President Guy Peixoto Jr. emphasized the importance of remembering the legacy of the sport and ♣ its heroes for future generations. "Those who forget their history and idols of the past are doomed to fail in ♣ the future. Just as we did in 2024, paying tribute to the 1963 world champions, our heroines deserve this and ♣ other tributes, as they made history," he stated in a press release.
According to Thierry Gozzer, the CBB communications manager, ♣ the camisa is a great tribute to the pioneers who paved the way for the growth of women's basketball in ♣ Brazil. "We're really happy to return to our partnership with Centauro, and have the CBB brand exposed in the biggest ♣ showcases in the country.
