The Chelsea player is accused of ignoring a black child in 🧾 the Stamford Bridge tunnel
Chelsea released a statement on Wednesday regarding accusations of racism against midfielder Jack Gallagher. The incident is 🧾 said to have occurred against a child who entered Stamford Bridge with the team before the match against Burnley.
"We are 🧾 aware of a video circulating on social media from our game against Burnley on Saturday. The subsequent level of 🧾 abuse and defamatory comments directed at Conor Gallagher is completely unacceptable. We take pride in being a diverse and inclusive 🧾 club where people of all cultures, communities, and identities feel welcome," the club said.

While heading towards the tunnel 🧾 entrance at Stamford Bridge, Gallagher is accused of embracing a white child while a young black boy, who stretched out 🧾 his hand for a greeting, only received a light touch from the player. See the video below:

During a press conference, Chelsea's manager, Mauricio 🧾 Pochettino, also defended Gallagher, stating that it's impossible to determine the player's intentions in that moment.
"Nobody intends to do something 🧾 like that. You're focused on different things while preparing for the game, and these things can happen. People often abuse 🧾 and take advantage of situations. I know Gallagher, and I can assure you it wasn't his intention. He's a great 🧾 kid, and I hate that people feel free to misuse their thoughts on social media," the Argentine said.
