Um terremoto de magnitude 7,4 atingiu Taiwan na manhã 💷 desta quarta-feira (3), leaving nine dead and over 940 injured. O brasileiro Patrick Pacheco, who has lived in Taiwan for 💷 seven years, witnessed the earthquake and described the moment of fear during the tremor.
"It was a fear that I had 💷 never felt before. It was like the walls were going to collapse. It felt like the earthquake was different, it 💷 was stronger. It was a fear that made you want to run away," he said.
Patrick lives in Taipei, about 150 💷 km from the epicenter of the earthquake. He said that the last earthquake he felt was about four or five 💷 months ago, and that it was not as strong as this one.
"You try to stand up, the building is leaning 💷 to one side and you're leaning to the other. It's like you're on a boat. You feel dizzy, it's terrible," 💷 he compared.
Patrick did not notice any injured people in the area where he lives, but he heard a lot of 💷 ambulance sirens in the nearby streets.
The earthquake was the strongest to hit Taiwan in 25 years. According to the Japanese 💷 Meteorological Agency, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake was registered on the east coast of Taiwan. At least 26 buildings collapsed, with more 💷 than half of them in the city of Hualien. Authorities reported that 77 people were trapped under the rubble of 💷 damaged buildings.
The earthquake also triggered alerts for a tsunami in Japan and the Philippines, which were later canceled. It was 💷 felt in cities in China, including Shanghai.
